Readers Write: Destination: Great appreciates the shout out

Thank you to Sam Yellis for his editorial shout out in last week’s paper. For those of you who do not know, Destination: Great Neck is a local community organization – now a bona fide movement –  borne out of the pandemic’s early days.

We joined together as concerned residents and Great Neck business owners, (Michele runs Confidanze- THE place to dance and workout in town and I, my namesake law firm).

Along with a diverse board of passionate local residents, we strive to improve the “user experience” in Great Neck, boost the local economy, celebrate our arts, culture and storied history, i.e. Gatsby, and otherwise unify our diverse citizenry to make us proud of our town, again.

As Mr. Yellis said so eloquently — we are using our collective “imagination, skills and talents” to do what we can to “pump life into the peninsula.”

As many of us can appreciate, Great Neck is a unique town — all its 9 villages and incorporated areas- made up of wonderful people from all around the globe.

Every member of the community brings with them their own culture and flavor.  We will be celebrating Great Neck’s unparalleled unique qualities and our promising future – on June 11-12 at our second annual Gatsby Fest. We urge our fellow neighbors to take off their political and other hats, join us in the middle lane and have some neighborly FUN!

See you in town!

Great job. That’s why the Washington Mutual sign is still up on the building by Allenwood Road.. They’ve only been out of business for 12 years. The place looks like a slum, and a handful of people are committed to KEEPING it that way. Unreal.
