Business and Organization Meeting

Newly-elected Park District Commissioner, Tina Stellato will be sworn in at the Park District’s Administration Office, 5 Beach Road on Thursday, Jan. 4, at 8 p.m. Her term begins Jan. 1, 2018 and runs for a three year period.

Parkwood Tennis Center

The new winter session begins at the Parkwood Tennis Center on Monday, Jan. 8 and runs through May.

Children and adults can learn to play or brush up on their tennis skills. Non-resident rates apply. Interest patrons can call (516) 829-9050 for more information.

Skate School and Bruins Fun-damental Hockey Registration

Interested patrons can register for Skate School session II at the Andrew Stergiopoulos Ice Rink. New students welcome. Call (516) 487-2976, Ext. 114. The Bruins Fun-damental Hockey program is now registering children (ages 5-12) for session II, which runs Jan. 2 to April 13. Reduced rate equipment packages are available. Nature Program: Photo Op Walk

On Sunday, Jan. 7, 12:30 p.m., join the Park District for a Photo Op Walk in Caumsett Park, Huntington. This is a hilly one and a half mile stroll, with brief pauses in areas of natural or historic interest. A guide will provide information and allow time for snapshots. Bring your own camera. Weekend Movie Coming Up at Great Neck House

The film 13 Minutes (2015), directed by Oliver Hirschbiegel, will be shown at Great Neck House on Friday, Jan. 12 at 8 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 13, at 5 & 8 p.m. and Sunday, Jan. 14 at 7:30 p .m. This drama, starring Christian Friedel, Katharina Schüttler and Burghart Klaußner, is based on Hitler’s would-be assassin and how history could have been changed. It is rated R and runs 1h 54min. Park card is required for admission.

National Skate Month Day

The Great Neck Park District, in cooperation with the Great Neck Figure Skating Club, will celebrate National Skate Month at the Andrew Stergiopoulos Ice Rink, Sunday, Jan. 14 from 2 to 4 p.m. Enjoy free admission with park card. All are welcome to attend.
