North Hempstead Town Council Member Mariann Dalimonte joined with members of the Greater Port Washington Business Improvement District, Port Washington Chamber of Commerce, Landmark on Main Street, Residents Forward and the Port Washington Police Department to celebrate the final day of the Port Outdoors Dine & Shop on Oct. 15.
This was the first iteration of the Town’s “Lift Up Local” initiative, which was designed by Town Supervisor Judi Bosworth’s internal Business Recovery Response Workgroup. The group’s goal is to find ways to help businesses that have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The workgroup, which includes members of the Town Board, have helped establish dining in local parks, expanded outdoor dining programs, created a “parklet” sidewalk dining extension program, as well as facilitated street closures to help attract customers.
On behalf of the town, Dalimonte presented citations to the organizations for their dedication and devotion to the community and lifting up the spirits of all.
Port Outdoors Dine & Shop was held on Thursdays for six weeks from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Main Street was closed to cars and open to pedestrians for dining, shopping, and entertainment.
