‘Jigsaw Jones’ author Preller visits the PW Library

Author James Preller with Books for Dessert Member Jamie Comer

Books for Dessert, the Port Washington Public Library’s book club program for adults with intellectual disabilities, recently held its first “Meet the Author” event with James Preller. Preller is the creator of the beloved “Jigsaw Jones” series. The groups prepared for his visit by reading and reviewing “Jigsaw Jones: The Case of the Bicycle Bandit,” with their leaders, Annmarie Benzinger and Evie Schonbrun, prior to the event.

The Books for Dessert members were a rapt audience, and Preller thoughtfully answered their questions after his presentation. During a meet-and-greet, Preller autographed a copy of “The Case of the Bicycle Bandit” for each club member. The groups, which have been in existence since 2004, then enjoyed a luncheon courtesy of the Friends of the Library.
