Great Neck’s Dance Visions NY will present a program, “I hear America Singing, I see America Dancing,” on Sunday, June 9 at The Amsterdam at Harborside, 300 East Overlook in Port Washington.
The program honors the 200th birthday of iconic American poet Walt Whitman and also the 141st birthday of dancer Isadora Duncan. Duncan considered Whitman her spiritual teacher. Excerpts from his poems will be illustrated by complementary Duncan repertory.
The program will also honor the late Shirley Romaine, who helped to conceive it, and will include recordings of her reading some of the poems. If interested in attending the event, send an email to dancevisions.ny@gmail.
