The Port Washington Fire Department helped bring a barge worker to the hospital early Tuesday morning after he fell into chilly waters at the Buchanan Marine in Port Washington.
The Fire Department was alerted at 4:30 a.m. When officials arrived, they found a man who had fallen off a barge, been rescued from the sea by crew members and placed in a tugboat. The crew had requested help in transferring the victim safely.
The man was taken to a local hospital for evaluation after being transferred. His injuries did not appear to be life-threatening, Fire Department officials told the Port Washington Times. They were unable to provide any updates on his status.
