Great Neck businessman Robert Zimmerman and former Town of Hempstead Supervisor Laura Gillen declared victory in the Democratic Primaries for New York’s 3rd and 4th Congressional Districts, respectively, late Tuesday night.
Zimmerman declared himself victorious just after 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday, with 6,737, or 36%, of the votes, with 59% of the ballots reported.
Former North Hempstead Supervisor Jon Kaiman was in second place when Zimmerman called the race, with 4,864 votes. Nassau County Legislator Josh Lafazan was in third place with 3,601 votes, Melanie D’Arrigo received 2,896 votes and Reema Rasool received 509 votes.
Gillen declared herself victorious before 10 p.m. on Tuesday, receiving 69% of the vote with 68% of the ballots reported.
Gillen received nearly 6,500 votes, compared to Nassau County Legislator Carrie Solages (1,573 votes), Malverne Mayor Keith Corbett (1,163 votes) and Muzib Huq (144 votes).
