I would like to praise the Zucker Hillside Hospital for all they do in the mental health field to help the many in need.
The hospital is located in Glen Oaks Village.
It is a division of Northshore/ LIJ and a member of Northwell Health. My wife Eva who I love dearly was admitted there last week to their Geriatric/ Adult Behavioral health department.
I saw first hand the help and care by their staff of psychiatrists, psychologists, doctors and nurses. They are dedicated to the care of their patients.
It seems to me there still is a stigma surrounding those with mental health problems.
As a society, we show a great deal of concern for those with diseases of the body but not enough for those with the health of the mind.
I feel more must be done and more funding is needed to cope and help those who are suffering so much from diseases of the mind.
Remember a mind is a terrible thing to waste. Now, this is from a person who knows my wife Eva for many years who is suffering from depression and has suffered so much.
