Readers Write: Trump has made the right moves

With all due respect to the flavored drink manufacturer, I am truly amazed by some of the comments expressed by the Biden-supporting readers.  The letter from Mr. Goldberg in the Oct. 16 issue was drenched in that Kool-Aid. Can the writer even hope to be believed when he creates his own facts about President Trump’s response to the Covid-19 threat?  Seriously, look at the REAL facts.

The president took action immediately to stem travel from China in January. He was called xenophobic for doing so by Biden and Pelosi, and all of their loyal followers. Was he not right to do this? Perhaps the only mistake was to delay in stopping all travel to the United States, an act that followed soon after.

Are you feeling sorry for the People’s Republic of China, which foisted this pandemic on the world? Yes, it is the Chinese virus, and that is no reflection on our millions of Chinese people worldwide. The Chinese Communist Party was the source, and it’s no more a misnomer than the Spanish Flu, or the Bubonic Plague. Grow up!

America now is at war with a pandemic. Do you take issue with the statement by Democrat President Franklin D. Roosevelt in his first inaugural address in 1933 when he said, “The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.” I’m willing to bet that if Donald Trump was a Liberal Democrat, you’d give him a pass on all of these errors in judgment which you attribute to him.

Please be reminded, as well, that most of the locales that have had the highest number of Covid-19 deaths are Democrat-run cities and states. Keeping these facts local, New York City and state have the highest number because of decisions made by Gov. Andrew Cuomo and Mayor Bill de Blasio. While the USS Comfort sat idle in the Hudson River, ignored by both of them, Cuomo sent seniors to their deaths in nursing homes, and de Blasio emptied prisons and condoned riots and looting — the antithesis of what our president stands for.

Don’t like his style? Too bad. He was elected to get the job done, not to have a business-as-usual attitude. I, for one, will be happy to give him four more years, and I’m in good company! Be careful what you wish for.

Tweet from Senator Chris Murphy of Connecticut
“Just left the Administration briefing on Coronavirus. Bottom line: they aren’t taking this seriously enough. Notably, no request for ANY emergency funding, which is a a big mistake. Local health systems need supplies, training, screening staff, etc. And the they need it now.”

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo announces shipment of nearly 17.8 tons of donated medical supplies to the Chinese people, including masks, gowns, gauze, respirators, and other vital materials. These donations are a testament to the generosity of the American people.

I could do this all day long. I could fill the print edition of this newspaper with more examples like this which pre-date and post-date these articles, starting with Trump’s almost IMMMEDIATE dismantling of the nation’s pandemic response teams.

But it would be like talking to furniture. Nothing matters. No truth is big enough to ignore. No evidence put in front of you too strong to just blow off.

    So be it.
