This is not a political statement. It is an objective analysis of Matthew Zeidman’s letter.
Mr. Zeidman accuses Jack Martins of “sleight-of-hand” tactics since his press release claimed that Martins “contacted Amazon officials to suggest that Nassau County would be a good location for Amazon’s second headquarters in North America” but Martins did not satisfy a number of items in Amazon’s proposal guide.
Martins only claimed to have made contact with Amazon officials. He was not submitting a proposal, regardless of Zeidman’s statement that Martins “had no authority to . . . submit a proposal on Nassau County’s behalf”.
I am not an elected or appointed government official, yet I could certainly do what Martins did – contact Amazon officials to promote my county as the site for Amazon’s second headquarters in North America.
In the current climate of bi-partisanship it seems that both sides can distort the facts.
