Dear fellow residents of the Village of Thomaston,
My name is Jay W. Chagrin. My wife and I have been residents of the Village of Thomaston for over 24 years. We moved to the Village for its small-town feel and walkability.
During our time here, I have witnessed many changes within our community. While some of the changes have been positive, some are not. I am disappointed by the lack of transparency from our local leaders. As an example, when we first moved into Thomaston we received regular notices about changes within our Village. Now, we are not informed of changes in the same way. If you don’t have a computer you will not know about the updates. I was also very disturbed about the lack of transparency when the zoning incentive law created for the owner/developer of Tower Ford was quietly passed without the knowledge of the community.
By way of background, I grew up in eastern Queens. I graduated from John Jay College of Criminal Justice and earned both a B.A. in Criminal Justice and a Master of Public Administration. I recently retired from JPMorgan Chase Bank, N.A. after a 35 – year career in commercial banking, including government, and client financial management. Prior to this position, I worked for RKO Century Warner Theatres as a manager and I was an Adjunct College Professor at The Academy of Aeronautics.
I believe that my financial background and knowledge will be a great asset to the Village of Thomaston Board of Trustees. I feel that I will bring a unique vision to the Board of Trustees. Serving the Public’s interest will always be paramount. I will now have the time to devote to Public Service which is something I have wanted to do for many years.
Please do not hesitate to contact me via email at jwchagrin@gmail.com if you have any questions or would like to discuss my candidacy. I appreciate your support.
Thank you.
Jay Chagrin
