Reader William Hothan attempts to endorse John O’Kelly’s anti-Israel diatribes by claiming Israel paid compensation to the USS Liberty’s victims and families as an admission of guilt.
Sorry Mr. Hothan, but even if Israel did pay out this compensation as you allege, it does not necessarily mean they admitted to deliberately attacking the USS Liberty.
It was almost certainly a gesture of compensation for a tragic accident.
Accidents of this nature do occasionally occur in wars.
