A Uniondale man was arrested for a burglary in Westbury on Wednesday morning.
Police say defendant Elidieu Cadet, 38, of 675 New St., Uniondale, walked up to the side of a commercial building under construction at 25A Post Ave., Westbury, broke a window and gained entry.
The building’s 44-year-old owner passed by and noticed the broken window. He entered and discovered the defendant holding a saw blade. The victim fled and called the police.
When officials arrived, Cadet was found inside and arrested without incident. He is charged with second-degree burglary, criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree and second-degree menacing.
Cadet appeared in First District Court on Thursday, Dec. 8, at 99 Main St. in Hempstead. He was arrested on Oct. 2 for second-degree attempted burglary and criminal mischief, arraigned on Oct. 3 and released on his own recognizance.
