Silver owes taxpayers settlement money

It used to be when someone did wrong, it was they who had to pay to get out of the mess they created. But if you are a politician, it seems it is the hard-working taxpayer whose money is so freely spent to hush up the deed.

Take Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver, who authorized a $103,000 to sweep under the rug, Vito Lopez’s mess.  Did you or I authorize the spending our tax money?   Lopez  could well afford  to have paid with his own funds.  Whenever, you sweep garbage under the rug, eventually that rug will be picked up and the garbage will be there for all to see.  So, while Richmond County District Attorney Daniel Donovan is investigating Lopez, Silver is using “Hush Money” without taxpayers’ approval.  If people want to donate their own money to pay for Lopez’s mistake, all well and good, but, Silver, give back our $103,000.

Will Rita Pasarell and  Leah Herbert be taxed on the money they received?
