Firefighters were called Sunday night to a second alarm fire at an Old Westbury home.
Westbury Fire Department Chief Kenneth Gass said they were alerted by Old Westbury police officers shortly after 7 p.m. Sunday to a working house fire at 11 Campo Circle.
Gass said when firefighters arrived, they saw the fire coming through the roof on the driveway side of the property.
“They made an aggressive interior attack and knocked the fire down” with the assistance of Carle Place, Hicksville, Syosset, Jericho and Roslyn fire departments as well as Mineola Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
The fire spread into the attic and through the roof, Gass said. Firefighters climbed into the home from the roof and battled the fire internally. No injuries were reported, and Gass said the homeowners were out of the house.
A crew of about 80 firefighters had the fire under control in about an hour, Gass said.
Though the fire was originally under investigation, Gass said the blaze has been ruled an accident.
