The dream of New Hyde Park’s softball team has ended in Portland Oregon. The girls were hoping to become the first New York team to win the Little League Softball World Series.
But it wasn’t to be. They were eliminated by 6-1 loss to Hawaii.
We hope they know how proud New Hyde Park and all of Nassau County is of their accomplishment.
As coach Tom Donnelly pointed out: “The team had spectacular success going into the Little League World Series. We’ll always be the first team from New Hyde Park to go to the World Series. No other team from New Hyde Park softball had ever won the Eastern Region and we’ve done that twice.”
