Man charged with assault in Flower Hill

The Nassau County Police announced the arrest of a Richmond Hill man for an assault that occurred on Thursday in Flower Hill.

Mohamed Yacoob, 47, was involved in a verbal argument with a male co-worker at Long Island Fire Doors, located at 5 Harbor Park Drive in Port Washington, according to police.

Officials said that as the argument escalated, Yacoob picked up a metal pipe and struck the victim in the face and head several times. 

The incident occurred on April 14 at 12:40 a.m.

Third Precinct officers responded to the location and placed Yacoob under arrest.

Officials said the victim was transported to an area hospital and is listed in serious condition. 

Yacoob is charged with assault in the first degree and possession of a dangerous weapon in the forth degree. 

He was arraigned on Thursday at First District Court in Hempstead.
