Great Neck’s population 40,000 not 9,899 as letter said

I have urged by letter to the Great Neck News and continue to support a yes vote on Tuesday, Oct. 25 in favor of a renewed Main Library

A letter in the Oct. 14, issue of the Great Neck News opposing the Great Neck Library bond issue misstated the approximately 40,000 population of the Great Neck Library District, which is coterminous with the school district. The letter writer’s number, 9,989, is the census population of the Village of Great Neck, one of nine villages and large unincorporated areas that comprise Great Neck.
