Great Neck resident Edward Sedaghati was arrested Thursday, Jan. 24 in the attempted kidnapping of a Manorhaven man.
Sedaghati, 29, allegedly approached a 30-year-old man’s car while the man was parked in his Edgewood Place driveway.
Sedaghati, who police say was wearing a ski mask and dark clothing, allegedly entered the car and brandished a handgun. Police later found an imitation handgun on the scene.
The victim and Sedaghati began to struggle, according to a Nassau County Police Department press release – a fight that ended after Sedaghati was allegedly pushed out of the car and restrained with the help of a passerby.
Police arrived and arrested Sedaghati.
On searching Sedhaghati’s bag police found a gravity knife, duct tape, tie wraps and a bag of marijuana, according to the press release.
No injuries were reported.
Sedhagati faces charges of menacing, possession of a weapon, unlawful possession of marijuana and attempted kidnapping. He was arraigned at 1st District Court in Hempstead on Friday, Jan. 25.
