A Jersey Party will be held as a fundraiser for the Matthew Hylton Scholarship Fund on Saturday night at 7 p.m.
The fundraiser, at O’Carroll’s Recovery Room at 214 Station Plaza in Mineola, is the primary fundraising event for the scholarship fund. The fund memorializes Mineola High School student Matthew Hylton, who died suddenly of cardiac arrest three years ago at age 15.
Last year the foundation presented four Mineola High School graduates – members of the class Matthew would have graduated in – with $1,0000 scholarships. This year, the foundation presented two $1,000 scholarships, according to Matthew’s mother, June Hylton.
“We’re keeping Matt’s legacy alive,” she said.
