One person was killed in a collision on the Northern State Parkway on Tuesday morning, state police said.

The New York State Police said they were investigating a two-car collision that occurred around 9 a.m. in the eastbound lanes just west of exit 29, leading to Roslyn Road, East Hills and Albertson.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that the collision occurred when a 2016 Jeep Wrangler traveling eastbound, struck the rear of a 2017 Dodge Durango traveling in the right lane,” state police said in a statement. “The impact caused the Jeep to leave the roadway onto the right shoulder before striking a tree and subsequently catching on fire.”
