The Manhasset-Lakeville Fire Department has received a gift from a local auto dealer of a training mannequin intended to prepare first responders and area residents to perform CPR.
“We are extremely fortunate to have such great support from our local community,” said Manhasset-Lakeville 1st Lt. Robert Stern in a statement. “This new, state-of-the-art CPR mannequin will allow us to better provide the high standards in emergency medicine that our residents have come to expect.”
The donation was made by the North Bay Cadillac Buick GMC automobile dealership of Great Neck, as part of the National Automobile Dealers Association’s community outreach program.
Since 1975, member dealers to the organization have donated more than $4 million in mannequins, which have been used to train an estimated 2 million people.
“It is a great honor to present this state-of-the-art CPR equipment to our local fire department,” said Jack Weidinger, owner of North Bay Cadillac. “It will go to train first responders and help save the lives of countless area residents.”
In a statement, state Sen. Jack Martins (R-Mineola), who coordinated the donation with North Bay Cadillac, Manhasset-Lakeville and state Assemblywoman Michelle Schimel (D-Great Neck), said he was heartened to see the dealer “continuing to give back to their neighbors.”
“The CPR unit donated by North Bay Cadillac will allow the Manhasset-Lakeville Fire Department to provide invaluable, lifesaving training that will help protect the residents of the community,” he said.
