Bohemia man pleads not guilty to NHP robbery charges

A Bohemia man pleaded not guilty Tuesday to charges stemming from his alleged participation in a New Hyde Park bank robbery in July.

Police arrested 43-year-old Joseph Mancuso Tuesday on a second-degree robbery charge.

Police allege he was one of two robbers, described as white men, who robbed the Valley National Bank at 699 Hillside Ave. on July 10.

He and another man allegedly entered the bank at 4:03 p.m. that day, passed a note demanding money to a teller and left with an undisclosed amount of money.

Seven employees were in the bank at the time, police said. No one was hurt.

Police are still searching for the second alleged robber, described as a man in his 40s about 6 feet tall with facial hair.

William Shanahan, Mancuso’s Mineola-based attorney, declined to comment on the case.
