Nassau County police have made their firsts arrests in a string of 10 recent robberies and attempted robberies of TD Banks in Nassau County including two of the same Roslyn Heights branch within five days.
Police said they believe several of the crimes are connected, but other suspects are believed to have acted independently in other robberies.
Three people were arrested Thursday night following the robbery of TD Bank at 111 Mineola Ave. in Roslyn Heights, according to Nassau County police.
One of the suspects in Thursday’s arrest, Monique Davis, who has no known address, was responsible for five other TD Bank robberies since late January, according to NCPD’s robbery squad.
But, police said, suspects from four other TD bank robberies, including a recent theft in Great Neck Plaza, are still at large.
The suspect in a Feb. 5 robbery of the Great Neck Plaza TD Bank was believed to be with the woman now identified as Davis when she allegedly robbed a Garden City TD Bank branch on Jan. 30, Detective Sergeant and robbery squad head John Giambrone said earlier this month.
But Anthony Brown, the man arrested with Davis, was only charged in the most recent robbery and Giambrone said he was not the person responsible for the Great Neck heist.
Davis, 36; Brown, 24; and Charles Sutton, 37 were arrested Thursday night after fleeing the TD Bank in Roslyn Heights, police said.
Police said Davis and Brown entered the bank at approximately 8 p.m. and Davis and started to make a transaction.
When asked for identification, Davis demanded money from the teller, police said.
The pair, police said, obtained $1,000 and fled on foot.
Prior to leaving the bank, Brown had been in contact with Sutton, who was driving a 2013 Hyundai, by phone, police said.
Davis and Brown were located at Mineola Ave. and Lambert Street, while Sutton was later stopped in his car on Mineola Avenue and presented a New Jersey driver’s license and a false name. A stun gun was also found in his possession.
Police also charged Davis in connection with five other recent bank robberies dating back to the end of January, each at TD Bank locations, throughout Nassau County.
Davis was charged with four counts of second-degree robbery, two counts of third degree robbery, and resisting arrest.
Brown was charged with second-degree robbery, and Sutton was charged with second-degree robbery, second-degree possession of a forged instrument, third-degree possession of a weapon, as well as a traffic law violation.
The descriptions of other TD Bank robberies do not match the three suspects charged in the Roslyn Heights robbery.
On Feb. 22, a man wearing a black ski mask and described as a white male about 25 years old robbed a TD Bank in Port Washington and fled on foot, police said.
On the Feb. 17, man wearing a green hooded jacked and described as a middle-aged white male allegedly robbed the TD Bank in Roslyn Heights. And on Jan. 17, a man of similar description – white, middle aged and wearing a green jacket – robbed a TD Bank in Plainview.
A spokesperson for TD Bank said the company was cooperating with local officials and would not comment further on an ongoing legal matter.
