North Hempstead is seeking bids for the construction of a dog park at Michael J. Tully Park in New Hyde Park.

Bids are due next Thursday at Town Hall at 10:30 a.m.

In February, the Town Board unanimously voted to approve a $37,560 contract with Melville-based Nelson and Pope Engineers to design the town’s first dog park.

The board set aside $250,000 for the project as part of its 2018 capital plan.

The project will give dogs space to roam off their leashes. Currently, dogs are not allowed in Tully Park unless on a leash, Parks Commissioner Jill Weber previously told Blank Slate Media.
