A Sewanhaka High School student from Franklin Square was arrested after allegedly posting a photo of himself with a gun and threatening words directed at his school online, Nassau County police said.
Joseph Khanat, 17, of 159 Litchfield Ave., posted two photos online Tuesday morning, police said. The first allegedly was Khanat with gun, and the second was a photo of the school on fire, police said.
Khanat is charged with making a terroristic threat.
He will be arraigned on Wednesday at First District Court in Hempstead.
A representative for Sewanhaka High School was not available for comment on Wednesday morning as the district was closed for a potential snowstorm.
Isn’t it illegal to post a photograph of a minor in relation to an allegation like this?
I’m not condoning this kid’s idiotic behavior, but kids and people do stupid things and make mistakes, but I don’t believe his face should be plastered all across the internet.
It is not illegal to post a photograph of a minor.
And given the seriousness of the charge, I think publication is more than warranted.
I am sure some students and their parents would want to be aware of this student’s identity.
Yes I am happy that they did since my child is a student at that school. I need to know what he looks like. In case of anything.
