The Hance Family Foundation Family Fun Day will be held on Saturday, May 20 at Centennial Gardens in Floral Park.
The foundation was founded in 2009 when Emma, Alyson and Katie, the three young daughters of Warren and Jackie Hance, were killed in a car crash when their aunt crashed head-on into another while driving intoxicated on the wrong side of the Taconic State Parkway. Eight people were killed in the crash.
Since then, the Hance Family Foundation has served to honor their lives by providing self-esteem programs worldwide and promoting social-emotional learning.
The foundation moved its headquarters from Elmont to a storefront on Tulip Avenue in 2022, replacing what was Floral Park Florists.
Saturday’s Fun Day will include Emma’s Mile at 9 a.m., a 5K run or walk at 9:30 a.m. and the Pee Wee Run at 10:30 a.m. Family Fun Day activities begin at 11 a.m. until 3 p.m.
Activities include art, dress-up, raffles, face painting, carnival games, live entertainment and refreshments, among other things.
Over $69,000 has been raised for the event, according to the foundation’s website.
