Great Neck Library Parkville branch’s renovation on schedule, set to open in late December or early January

The currently closed Parkville branch of the Great Neck Library is on schedule to open either at the end of December or the beginning of January, Director Denise Corcoran said during her report Tuesday night.

The library, located at 10 Campbell St. in North New Hyde Park, has been closed since July 1.

“It really looks great,” Corcoran said during the library board meeting. “We anticipate that we will be planning our move back in very soon.”

Corcoran said the specific re-opening date depends on staffing and the board will know more about a grand opening at a later date.

The branch will have newly painted walls, new flooring and carpeting laid down and other internal renovations such as lighting and shelving, among other things.

Ex-Trustee Donald Panetta, who resigned in October, expressed his dissatisfaction in September with the closure of the branch. Panetta said residents in the southern part of the district told him they were upset with the lack of alternatives once the branch closed.
