Floral Park man charged with murder in fatal Hempstead shooting from last year

A Floral Park man was charged last week in connection with a 2022 drive-by shooting in Hempstead that killed one and injured three, police said.

Jablee Cohen, 22 was charged with murder in the second degree for his alleged involvement in the murder of Jaden Johnson, 19, of Hempstead, police said.

Cohen’s second-cousin, Laron Watts, 22, of Uniondale, pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder on Aug. 17, 2022, police said.

Officers responded to a call of shots fired near 77 Terrace Ave. in Hempstead around 10 p.m. on Saturday, June 4, 2022. Upon arrival officers transported Johnson to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries, police said. 

A second male victim, 23, of Hempstead, was wounded in the ankle, a 35-year-old male victim, of Hempstead, was wounded in the leg and a fourth male victim, 31, of Hempstead, was wounded in the thigh, police said.

Each victim was transported to the hospital to treat their injuries at the time, police said.
