A Farmingdale woman has been charged in multiple robberies after allegedly meeting victims from online escort ads, police said.
April Summers, 35, was arrested Saturday at the Floral Park Motor Inn where she was violent and combative while resisting arrest, police said.
Multiple victims reported being robbed, assaulted and kidnapped after soliciting Summers through an online escort advertisement, police said. Victims told police during an eight-month investigation that Summers would demand additional money and steal, assault, threaten and often kidnap them if they would not comply.
Summers allegedly drove victims to the bank, demanding large sums of money to be removed and given to her, police said.
The investigation was conducted from Nov. 8 to June 15, police said.
Court records show at her arraignment Sunday, bail for Summers was set at $600,000 bond or $300,000 cash.
Summers is charged with kidnapping, robbery, assault, criminal possession of a weapon, coercion, attempted grand larceny, larceny strangulation, unlawful imprisonment, resisting arrest and harassment, police said.
