10-year-old girl on way to ice cream truck struck by car in New Hyde Park

A 10-year-old girl on her way to an ice cream truck was hit by a 20-year-old driver in New Hyde Park Wednesday.

Shortly before 6 p.m., a female driving a 2020 Hyundai Elantra Northbound on North 11th Street at Park Avenue struck the victim, who was on a bicycle crossing the roadway, police said.

The victim was transported to North Shore LIJ Cohens Children’s Hospital for treatment while the driver remained on the scene, police said.
