An unknown number of men have been approaching and engaging parents and children in conversations that made them uncomfortable at secondary school athletic practice fields, Manhasset Schools Superintendent Gaurav Passi said in a letter released by the district Friday.
Passi said the district has been notified twice of police reports filed over the last two days, reporting incidents in the evening hours this week involving men in a 2019 white Dodge Ram pick-up truck.
Passi said in the release the 6th Precinct was contacted immediately and evening school security members have been notified of the incidents.
“Please take a moment to review safety procedures with your child(ren), and please report any suspicious matters to both the District and police,” he wrote.
