The Village of Great Neck Estates voted to grant a restaurant license to the new owner of Ralph’s Famous Italian Ices at its meeting Monday night, allowing for the business to open in the next coming days.
Ralph’s Italian Ices at 150 Middle Neck Rd. is an Italian ice and ice cream chain based in Staten Island that has locations throughout Long Island and New York City.
The Great Neck Estates location has been closed for the past months due to a change in ownership. Vlad Todrov, who has had a Ralph’s in Long Beach for six years, is the new owner of the Middle Neck Road location, having taken over on May 1.
Todrov said that he took ownership of Great Neck Estate’s Ralph’s with “the intention to become part of this great community.”
He said that since the new restaurant license has been granted to him by the village, he is hoping to have the ice cream store open Friday.
“I’m looking forward to serving the community,” Todrov said.
Multiple members of the public echoed this sentiment, sharing during the public comment period that they, too, were looking forward to Ralph’s Ices opening again in Great Neck Estates.
He said the Ralph’s Ices will likely be open around 11 a.m. or 12 p.m., and close at 10 p.m. or 11 p.m. depending on the day of the week. He said the store will be open for approximately nine months out of the year, closing from December through February.
