A Kings Point man was arrested on assault charges Sunday night, according to the Nassau County Police Department.
Detectives said police responded to a disturbance report at a Split Rock Drive residence around 10 p.m. Sunday. Upon arrival, officials said, 77-year-old Dariush Zargaroff appeared to be intoxicated and became “irate and combative” with the officers.
Officials said Zargaroff kicked and pushed an officer, which caused him to fall. Zargaroff allegedly physically resisted arrest, which caused another officer to injure his back, according to a news release.
Officials said both the officer who fell down and the one who injured his back were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Zargaroff was also transported to a nearby hospital via a county ambulance, officials said.
Zargaroff was charged with two counts of second-degree assault, resisting arrest and obstructing governmental administration in the second degree, according to officials. Zargaroff’s arraignment will be conducted once he is deemed medically able, officials said.
Efforts to reach Zargaroff or a representative from the Police Department for comment and further information were unavailing.
