A car that crashed into the storefront of a Middle Neck Road salon on Sunday afternoon resulted in seven people being hospitalized, according to Great Neck Vigilant Fire Department Chief Justin Sachmechi.
A pair of vehicles were reportedly involved in the accident, which occurred shortly after 1 p.m. on Sunday, according to Sachmechi.
One of the vehicles, which was driven by an elderly woman, came in contact with the other vehicle, causing it to crash into the storefront of DeFranco Spagnolo salon on 156 Middle Neck Road in Great Neck Estates, he said.
Efforts to reach a representative from the salon for comment were unavailing.
The woman, who was not identified, had to be extracted from the vehicle, appearing conscious and transported to a nearby hospital for further treatment.
The woman along with six other individuals, who were also not identified by officials, also suffered injuries and were transported to nearby hospitals.
No deaths occurred during the incident, Sachmechi said.
Officials from the Nassau County Police Department aided in the incident and launched an investigation into the crash. Efforts to reach a representative from the police department for further comment were unavailing.
The Vigilant Fire Department was also aided by the Manhasset Lakeville Fire Department, the Great Neck Alert Fire Department, Roslyn Rescue, and the Nassau County Emergency Ambulance Bureau.
