Village of Great Neck Plaza Mayor Ted Rosen and incumbent Trustees Michael Deluccia and Pamela Marksheid won their races in Tuesday’s election and will each serve another two-year term.

The three incumbents ran on the United Residents Party line against Leonard Katz, who opposed Rosen for the mayoral seat, along with running mates Jason Hertz and Ruomei Hu. The challengers ran on the Revive Great Neck Plaza Party line.

Rosen defeated Katz 401-307, village officials announced Wednesday. Marksheid and Deluccia received 390 and 386 votes, respectively. Hertz received 303 votes while Hu received 299.

Rosen, a practicing lawyer, was first appointed to the Board of Trustees in 1985 and served as the village’s deputy mayor before defeating Katz in the 2020 election.

The Village of Thomaston will have two new trustees on the board, with village residents Jay Chagrin and Aaron Halpern defeating Nick Toumbekis and Karen Siegel on Tuesday.

Incumbent Trustees To-On Pang and James Sharkey did not run for re-election.

Chagrin and Halpern ran on the Honest Neighbors Party line, receiving 227 and 222 votes, respectively. Toumbekis received 201 votes and Siegel received 200.

“I pledge to listen to the voices and interests of the community, and stand up to those who seek to undermine the community and environment that we all value and enjoy,” Halpern said in a letter to Blank Slate Media. “I will also work to enhance the quality of life of our residents and community while exercising fiscal responsibility.”

“I feel that I will bring a unique vision to the Board of Trustees,” Chagrin said in a letter. “Serving the Public’s interest will always be paramount. I will now have the time to devote to Public Service which is something I have wanted to do for many years.”

Village of Russell Gardens Trustees Lawrence Chaleff and Matthew Ellis won their uncontested elections for four-year terms. Chaleff received 33 votes and Ellis received 39. Village Justice Edward Goodman, who also ran unopposed for re-election to serve another four-year term, received 37 votes.

A proposition to move the village’s election date from March to June also passed, 27-5.

Village of Kensington Mayor Susan Lopatkin, Deputy Mayor Jeffrey Greener, Trustee Phil Bornstein and Acting Village Justice Richard Kestenbaum all won their uncontested elections and each received 44 votes.

The villages of Great Neck Estates and Saddle Rock are not holding any elections this year, while the villages of Great Neck, Kings Point and Lake Success hold their elections in June.
