The Village of New Hyde Park will be holding its annual Memorial Day Tribute Parade Saturday at 10 a.m.
Those interested in marching can gather in the southbound lane of Hillside Boulevard at 9:30 a.m. The parade kicks off at 10 a.m. and the route snakes along Hillside Boulevard to Jericho Turnpike East, New Hyde Park Road North and Lincoln Avenue West heading toward Memorial Park.
There will be a wreath ceremony at Village Hall at 10:30 a.m. and a brief ceremony at Memorial Park at 11 a.m. Refreshments will be provided at Village Hall after the parade.
The village requests interested parties to RSVP to events@vnhp.org.
Other events marking the holiday are scheduled over the long weekend.
Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 120 and the Garden City Park Fire Department will co-host a Memorial Day Parade Monday.
The parade starts at Garden City Park School at 51 Central Ave. at 9 a.m.
There will be a ceremony at the firehouse headquarters at 2264 Jericho Tpke. at 10:15 a.m.
Breakfast will be served at the fire house after the ceremony.

In other Memorial Day news, Michael Domingo, a Troop 298 Scout, has led an Eagle Scout project to fund a Memorial Wall with plaques honoring 57 service members from New Hyde Park who lost their lives during World War I and II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War.
Unfortunately, the plaques will not arrive in New Hyde Park in time for the Memorial Day ceremony, Mayor Christopher Devane said, but the village will hold another unveiling ceremony at Memorial Park for the wall when the plaques come in.
The New Hyde Park Board of Trustees approved an application at a Thursday night meeting from the New Hyde Park Fire Department’s junior firefighters to hold a car wash on June 29 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with a June 30 rain date.
The board also approved an emergency resolution to forego the bidding process to pay around $15,000 for repairing a gas leak at Village Hall. The gas leak was due to rotting gas pipes, Devane said, and was fixed by National Grid.
The board discussed upcoming road and building work in the village.
The board said it planned to repave parking lots throughout the village, starting with the Central Boulevard lot, then the Lakeville Road lot and ending with the Brooklyn Avenue lot.
The board said the Village Hall molding is being redone and it hopes to repaint the Village Hall building before going out to bid for the construction of a new Marcus Christ Hall in July.
The Marcus Christ Hall will replace the building of the same name that was demolished more than a year ago and be used as a community center.
