A 75-year-old New Hyde Park woman was struck by two cars and killed while crossing a street in Garden City Park, the Nassau County Police Department reported.

The woman identified by police as Marie Gigliotti was crossing Marcus Avenue at Pubins Lane on the evening of Dec. 12 when a 26-year-old woman driving a Jeep Wrangler struck her. Gigliotti was then hit by a 23-year-old man driving a Honda Civic, police said.

The incident, which occurred just after 6 p.m., resulted in Gigliotti sustaining severe trauma. The Garden City Fire Department declared her dead at the scene, police said.

The Nassau County Police said an investigation was ongoing but that both drivers remained at the scene. No other injuries were reported, police said.
