Green field with the chance of a passing golf ball forecast for the annual Chamber of Commerce event next month.
On Sept. 18, the New Hyde Park Chamber will host its Annual Charity Golf Outing — which has been happening for over 25 years — with a day full of events. Starting at 11 a.m. at Harbor Links Golf Club in Port Washington, participants will eat brunch, which will then be followed by a game of 18 holes. This will roll into the cocktail hour and dinner at 6 p.m. with community members having the chance to win various raffle prizes.
This year’s outing will honor Mark Laytin, a member of the golf committee for over 15 years; Richard DeMartino, past president of the Chamber of Commerce; and Ralph Ventura, past president of the Chamber. The three honorees, which the chamber refers to as the “three musketeers,” have been instrumental in the success of this annual event.
“They’ve become three great friends that work together to make this outing as successful as it’s been,” Christopher Vulpis, co-committee chair of the New Hyde Park Chamber of Commerce Golf Outing, said.
Vulpis said that typically the outing generates between $30,000 to $40,000. Then, the proceeds are split between the Chamber and the Lions Club. The proceeds will also help charities such as the Greater New Hyde Park Chamber Charity Fund, Katie’s Run, Wounded Warrior Project, local school scholarships, Colette Coyne Melanoma Foundation, New Hyde Park Gladiator Fund, Ronald McDonald House, Casey Falconer Scholarship Fund, St. Baldricks Foundation, and more.
