Running unopposed, Board of Education Trustees Danielle Fagan and Binu Jacob were re-elected to the New Hyde Park-Garden City Park School Board on Tuesday and the district’s $48.1 million budget was approved with more than 62% of the vote.
The $48,101,950 budget includes a 2.88% tax increase, which falls below the state-mandated tax cap.
The budget received 434 votes of approval and 263 votes of disapproval. It was passed by 62.2%.
Fagan received 489 votes and Jacob received 322 votes.
This will be both Fagan and Jacob’s second term on the New Hyde Park-Garden City Park Board of Education. They will serve another three-year term beginning in July and concluding on June 30, 2027.
Both Fagan and Jacob were elected to the board of education in 2021 after running in an uncontested race. They both filled the seats left by former Trustees Jennifer DeRocchis and David Del Santo, who opted not to run again.
