The 8th annual Gold Coast International Film Festival kicks off on Friday evening, Nov. 2, with the first of more than 80 movie screenings — from documentaries and foreign films, to short and full-length feature films — along with corresponding lectures, culminating in an 11:30 a.m. awards luncheon on Nov. 14 at Neiman Marcus in Garden City, where you can be the first to hear this year’s winners that may become Oscar contenders.

3 Molloy College 2018 Gala: An Evening of Entertainment with The Midtown Men

7 Long Island Music Hall of Fame 2018 Induction Awards Gala
Thursday, Nov. 8 at 8:30 p.m.
Long Island has produced many accomplished musicians who have influenced generations of music lovers — from Harry Chapin and Billy Joel, to Joan Jett and Debbie Gibson. Started in 2004, the Long Island Music Hall of Fame serves to recognize and preserve Long Island’s music heritage. This year’s Induction Awards Gala, which begins with Red Carpet arrivals and a dinner party, will feature inductees including alt-rock band Taking Back Sunday, legendary hip hop group EPMD, Woodstock Music and Arts Festival co-creator Michael Lang, and singer-songwriter Jimmy Webb, among others.
