Cantor Ofer Barnoy and Divas on the Bima, a quartet of renowned female cantors, accompanied by a live band, will perform in a gala concert that’s open to the community on Sunday, March 6, 2022, at 6:30 PM at Temple Beth Sholom in Roslyn Heights.

A dessert reception will follow the concert, which is a tribute to Rabbi Alan B. Lucas, who is retiring in June after close to 30 years as the congregation’s senior rabbi.
Cantors Magda Fishman, Elizabeth Shammash, Alisa Pomerantz-Boro, and Jen Cohen are four fabulous cantors, each beloved by their own congregations, who formed the group Divas on the Bima* several years ago and have entertained audiences around the country to rave reviews.

Cantor Aliza Pomerantz-Boro has served as president of the prestigious Cantors Assembly in Judaism’s Conservative movement and is highly regarded for both her vocal prowess and sparkling personality. Cantor Elizabeth Shammash is classically trained in opera, Cantor Jen Cohen, who hails from Nashville, was a country music singer before becoming a cantor, and Cantor Magda Fishman, originally from Israel, performed in musical theater, and as a Pop and Jazz artist, before coming to the U.S. to pursue a cantorial career.
