
The Great Neck Library is hosting a Sunday Musical Performance Poems into Music by Three North Shore Friends. The event offers and afternoon of poetry and song with Hank Bjorklund (co-composer, drums, and vocalist), Diane Menzel (composter, guitarist and vocalist), and Helen Kotsky (flute, piano, mandolin and vocal accompaniments).
Hank Bjorklund is a former New York Jets football player who has been diagnosed with a life-altering brain illness. He has found that the power of writing poems and turning them with friends into songs has helped him heal. His recently published autobiography Head Hits I Remember: My Brain, Dysautonomia, and Football.
Diane Menzel is a retired family therapist who met Hank in a public library poetry group.
Helen Kotsky is a retired music teacher.
The concert is on Sunday, Dec. 17 at 2:00 p.m. at the Main Library 159 Bayview Avenue, Great Neck, NY. Registration is required. Great Neck cardholders and residents have priority for seating.
