Comics are lending their support to the Great Neck Student Aid Fund—and that’s no joke!
A night of laughs is planned for next Tuesday, June 4, at the Manhasset Cinema, 430 Plandome Road, Manhasset, beginning at 8 p.m., when three leading comics will entertain the audience to raise funds for the Student Aid Fund.
All monies collected are given to area students who have demonstrated a need of financial assistance. Without the help of the Student Aid Fund they would not otherwise be able to afford college.
Comedy club veteran Stacy Kendro will be followed by noted comedian John Ziegler at the show, which will be hosted by comic Robert Lopatkin of Great Neck. Admission is only $30 at the door and by reservation at tinyurl.com/GNSAFnightofaughs.
“I have worked with these comics before,” Lopatkin said, “and they are really, really funny. It is great that they are coming to assist the Student Aid Fund, which helps our own local students. The more we can raise, the more students we can help.”
Stacy Kendro, who has appeared at numerous comedy festivals and clubs around the country, is now also working on television pilots and is producing a web series called “Mob Shorts: The Albanian Assassin,” available on YouTube.
John Ziegler, named the “Funniest Comic on the East Coast” by Mohegan Sun, has headlined at many comedy clubs, including The Brokerage Comedy Club on Long Island. Stand-up comic Robert Lopatkin, who started his career as an orthodontist, is known to be “dry, witty and hysterically clever,” according to one reviewer.
“The Great Neck Student Aid Fund is a fantastic organization,” he said. “It allows us to help children in need right in our own community. Right now, they really need our support.”
