The 2018 New York Guitar Show & Exposition kicks off at the Freeport Recreation Center, 130 East Merrick Road in Freeport, on Saturday, April 21 and Sunday, April 22.
The 7th annual event will feature preeminent recording artist Arlen Roth, the guitar legend who has recorded with the likes of Bob Dylan, John Entwistle, James Taylor and more. As this year’s headliner for the show, Roth will appear and perform on Saturday, April 21 from 12 to 4 p.m.
Expo founder Rich Johnson said the following about Roth’s participation in this year’s event: “I can’t tell you how thrilled we are to have Mr. Roth, a true legend on the Fender telecaster, as our headliner this time around. Roth is an international superstar who basically started video guitar lessons back in the ’80s and we believe got it to where it is today on outlets such as YouTube. I don’t have the space here to list all his accomplishments.”
Many know Roth as the master behind the movie “Crossroads,” writing, performing and coaching all of film star Ralph Macchio’s guitar parts in the 1986 movie and directing many of the scenes while serving as the film’s official authenticator of the musical scenes.
Of his upcoming appearance, Roth says, “Some of my happiest times were when my family and I would come to the NY (Guitar) Expo… great music, great friends, endless guitars and comradery! Can’t wait to appear there this year and do it all over again! It’s a true honor to do this, and I hope the fans and players come out… look forward to meeting you all!”
“The New York Guitar Expo grows leaps and bounds every year,” added Johnson. “It’s now an East Coast fan favorite with this well-rounded guitar show highlighting vintage gear and guitars, retailers, manufacturers, private collections, etc., all so anyone walking through the front door can participate in some way large or small.”
