What a summer for Scout Troop 298! In July 2023, Troop 298 Scouts attended Onteora Scout Camp in Livingston Manor, NY. The Scouts worked on their scouting and leadership skills by participating in numerous scouting activities and merit badge courses such as Search and Rescue, Wilderness Survival, fishing, swimming, and kayaking. A total of 81 Merit Badges were earned!

In Early August, 4 Scouts, and 3 Leaders of the Troop went on a High Adventure summer trek to Northern Tier. The crew canoed and portaged over 55 miles through Northern Minnesota’s boundary waters. These Scouts and leaders navigated through lakes and rivers that span thousands of square miles.

The Northern Tier Boundary Waters is one of the last great wildernesses on the continent. Once again, the Troop earned many awards including the 50 Miler, Duty to God, and Lake Monitoring Award.

Troop Leader and Trustee Rainer Burger said “It was an awesome and humbling experience to watch and see these Scouts, lead, perform and excel. High Adventures are both physically and mentally challenging and our Scouts met the Challenge!”

Scouting provides young people with the opportunities to develop the skills, values and confidence they need to make ethical choices and become responsible members and leaders in their communities.

If you are interested in joining the Scout Troop 298 and your child is at least 11 year of age, please email Rainer Burger at rburger107@aol.com. If your child is between the ages of 7-10, they can join Cub Scout Pack 489. For the Cub Scouts, please contact Mr. Eric Amaya at kire1325@yahoo.com.
