On Tuesday, December 6th, seniors from New Hyde Park gathered in Village Hall to celebrate the season with lunch, music and good cheer. During the luncheon, Mayor Christopher Devane spoke to seniors about a new initiative in the village, focused on senior citizens.
The new Senior Program will pilot events for seniors and will be hosted at Village Hall on Jericho Turnpike. The program is open to all residents of both the Village of New Hyde Park as well as greater New Hyde Park. Mayor Christopher Devane, Deputy Mayor Madhvi Nijjar and Trustees Rainer Burger, Arthur Savarese and Donna Squicciarino launched the program as a way to bring seniors together to socialize in their community.
Some planned events include crafts, lectures, a cooking demonstration, games and more. Providing seniors a warm, welcoming space to socialize, learn, and have fun together is the goal of the program. For more information on the senior program, please visit the village website.
