The Hillside Library is partnering with Long Island Coalition for the Homeless (LICH)in doing a Baby Necessities Drive. Needed items include baby clothes, feeding essentials (bottles, brushes, formula) and bath essentials (washcloths, body wash, etc.) Also, diapers. As always, we thank you for your generosity.

Paint Night: Sketching and Acrylics with Alma – Virtual Friday, April 14 at 7 p.m. Celebrate National Gardening Day today by painting a vibrant flowering cactus that will brighten your home in time for Spring! For beginners to advanced sketchers and painters. Everyone is welcome. Enjoy a fun and relaxing evening painting in the comfort of your own home! Growing Native Plants – All Purpose Room Sunday, April 16 at 12:30 p.m. Learn about the importance of native plants in your garden and make seed bombs with Rewild Long Island. Rewild Long Island is a local organization advocating for sustainable landscaping with native plants.
DIY Garden Markers – All Purpose Room Monday, April 17 at 6 p.m. Go green for Earth Day and create your own garden markers using recycled metal utensils.
Stony Brook Health Education: Nicotine Cessation and Vaping – Virtual Tuesday, April 18 at 12 noon. Join knowledgeable Stony Brook Cancer Center health educators to learn about smoking cessation resources, second-hand smoke, e-cigarette use, the vaping epidemic and the dangerous effects it has on youth today.

In-Person: Library Plant and Garden Group – 1st Floor Modular Room Tuesday, April 18, 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. Calling all gardeners, of all levels and interests! Join the Plant and Garden Club and exchange seeds, rooted cuttings, and plants with fellow gardeners of all skills and interests. Let’s discuss composting, annuals and perennials, indoor and outdoor gardens, container gardens, terrariums (make your own!), and your problems and successes! Sessions meet April 18, May 16, June 20, July 18, August 15 and September 19 from 6:30-7:30 p.m. No registration necessary. The Library Plant and Garden Club meets every 3rd Tuesday, April through September.
