North Hempstead Town Supervisor Jennifer DeSena, Council Member Robert Troiano, Jr., the Town Board, and Nassau County Legislator Siela Bynoe are proud to be hosting a celebration in honor of Black History Month on Wednesday, Feb. 15 at Westbury Middle School at 455 Rockland Street in Westbury. Light refreshments will be offered at 6 p.m. and the event will begin promptly at 6:30 p.m.
The theme of this year’s event is “Black Resistance” and will celebrate the works of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Thurgood Marshall, John Lewis, Ella Baker, and local civic activists. The African American Museum of Nassau County has curated a special exhibit for the day.
Attendees will be treated to refreshments and live music and performances. In addition, the Town will be recognizing special individuals who have made a difference in the community.
