North Hempstead Town Supervisor Jennifer DeSena and Council Member Peter Zuckerman honored the newest Eagle Scouts from Troop 201 of Albertson during a ceremony at the Albertson Hook & Ladder, Engine & Hose, Company No. 1 station on May 22. Town officials presented proclamations to Justin Chin, Luke A. Christenson, Leonardo J. Gomez, Christopher Kim, Jesse T. Ryan, and Christopher J. Zovko in recognition of this special occasion.
Christopher Kim’s Eagle Scout project involved working with the Town’s Clark Botanical Garden to address ongoing soil erosion problems by digging a 40-foot trench to install a French drain, digging and installing a permeable paver path, as well as replacing a 100 square foot area of gravel.
Jesse Ryan built and installed four bat houses to help control the mosquito population at the Town’s Animal Shelter in Port Washington. He also installed a 20-foot flagpole and raised money for his project by building and selling bat houses to members of the community.
Justin Chin assisted with the refurbishment of the On-Field Trainers Room at Herricks High School for his Eagle Scout Project.
Leonardo Gomez made life-sized reproductions of the famous board games Chutes & Ladders, Kerplunk, and Jenga for Harbor Child Care.
Christopher Zovko coordinated and led a renovation of the Herricks High School garden courtyard including making it more accessible to all.
Luke Christenson’s Eagle Scout Project was at the North Shore Community Church, he planted trees and hostas around the perimeter of the Church’s parking lot, built a picnic table, and mulched the area where it was placed.
